It began with the «discovery» and colonization, leading to the integration of cultures at the expense of local independence, diversity, and uniqueness. It was driven by powerful transnational corporations that became so influential that neither trade unions nor governments could effectively regulate them. It offered the opportunity to produce goods on an unprecedented scale at previously unimaginable prices, leaving independent manufacturers with a choice: «grow with us or perish.»

Globalization is an inevitable process, and elements of this late 20th-century phenomenon can be traced throughout history, as seen in the rise and fall of empires where clothing, cuisine, culture, and even language spread across continents. Many believe that it is now American culture that has displaced traditional diversity, local uniqueness, and identity. Personally, I cannot argue for or against globalization. It is both remarkably beneficial and profoundly detrimental, and it is entirely unavoidable.
